The Soviets designed this fuze for use in the DM general purpose mines.
However, the fuze is versatile enough to be used with any charge or mine, and is especially effective when placed where vehicles set up considerable vibration.
The fuze consists of a cylindrical sheet metal case containing a clockwork safety mechanism; two aluminium housed, copper, spiral spring, vibration contacts (one vertical and one horizontal), and a four volt, dry cell, pocket flashlight battery.
Vibrations cause the spiral springs to vibrate until one of the springs touches a contact which completes the circuit and fires the detonator.
This fuze is extremely sensitive once it is armed.
If there is no way to cut the short wires attached to the detonator without moving or jiggling the fuze, manual disarming should not be attempted.
